MARCIA ANNE PHILLIPS (nee Johnson), of Mt. Laurel, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 5th, 2024 at 67 years of age. She was born in New York City, NY, to the late Victor L. and Rita (nee Reilly) Johnson. She called Mt. Laurel, NJ home for most of her life, moving there early in childhood and returning again to raise her family.
Marcia was a graduate of Lenape High School Class of 1975 and attended several years at Glassboro State College, where she was a charter member of the Delta Zeta sorority. All who knew Marcia knew of her passion for dance and theater. She was a semi-professional dancer in her youth and continued her love of the arts as a teacher at Marcia Hyland Dance Company and then as a volunteer choreographer for the Mount Laurel S.T.E.P. Theater Program. After her children had grown, she became a Playground Aide for Parkway Elementary School, where her children attended many years prior, and she had happily volunteered alongside her mother, Rita.
She is the beloved mother of Shannon (Louis) Russo of Marlton, NJ and Erin (Jason) Ranjo of Skillman, NJ. She is also survived by her grandchildren - Harper Russo, Louis Russo IV, Robert Ranjo, and Everett Ranjo - who were the joys of her life, and many other loving family members. In addition to her immediate family was a wide range of friends from her life who also became an extended family. From her childhood best friends to sorority sisters, neighborhood family to Parkway School crew, she left an imprint in people’s lives and her memory will always be cherished by many.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet her family on Friday, April 12th , 2024 from 10:30 – 12:30 PM at the BRADLEY & STOW FUNERAL HOME, 127 Medford-Mt. Holly Road, Medford, NJ, where a Memorial Service will be held immediately following at 12:30 PM. Interment will be private in the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Moorestown, NJ.
