Nancy C (Shontz) Ballinger

NANCY C. BALLINGER (Nee Shontz), of Medford, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday June 15th, 2016.  She was 74.  Born in Mt. Holly, NJ, she is the daughter of the late Clinton Frank and Alice Shontz.  Nancy proudly comes from a dairy farming background which originated in Florence, NJ and later moved to Medford, NJ.  She was an avid reader, bird watcher, shopper and housekeeper –specializing in laundry, vacuuming and caregiving for various family members.  Through her caregiving and two time breast cancer journey, she became very knowledgeable and well-versed in many medical aspects.  Nancy served the Medford community through numerous positions.  She started at the Burlington County National Bank; served as Medford Township Treasurer; and later worked for Medford Township Public Schools.  During her 36 years of service with Medford Public Schools, she was a Cafeteria Attendant, Playground Aide and Special Education Instructional Assistant at Haines School, Memorial School and Cranberry Pines Elementary.  Nancy was an active member of the Medford United Methodist Church since 1957.  During her longtime membership, Nancy participated as a Sunday School Superintendent, VBS Director, Junior Philathia/Busy Bees member and VBS Snack Extraordinaire.  Most of all, because of her love for children, she was a longtime Sunday School Teacher where she touched the lives of many children with whom she bonded.  She was affectionately known as MomMom Ballinger or Mrs. B.   She is the beloved wife of 55 years to George Ballinger and the loving mother of Debbie Adams (Wayne) and George Ballinger Jr. (Kim).  Nancy is the proud grandmother of Danielle Adams and Evan and Noah Ballinger.  She is survived by her siblings Wayne Shontz and Sally Shontz, as well as many close in-laws, nieces and nephews.  Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Friday, June 24th from 6:00 – 9:00 PM and on Saturday June 25 from 9:00-10:00 AM at the Medford United Methodist Church, 2 Hartford Rd, Medford.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM.  Interment will follow at the Oddfellows Cemetery in Medford, NJ.  Arrangements are under the direction of the BRADLEY & STOW FUNERAL HOME, Medford, NJ.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in memory of Nancy Ballinger to the Medford United Methodist Church, 2 Hartford Rd, Medford, NJ, 08055, or Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice, 5 Eves Drive, Suite 300, Marlton, NJ, 08052.
