Welcome to the memorial page for

Shawn P Kennedy

March 12, 1982 ~ June 13, 2016 (age 34) 34 Years Old

SHAWN PATRICK KENNEDY of Southampton, NJ, formerly Tabernacle and Mt Holly, NJ, passed away on Monday, June 13th, 2016. He was 34 yrs. Born in Mt Holly on March 12, 1982, he is the son of Theresa Powell Kennedy and the late Bruce David Kennedy. The beloved father of Destiny Kennedy and Sadie-Lynn Hatch. He is the loving brother of Candice Maria Kennedy and Crystal Rose Perry. Shawn is loving grandson of James L. Powell, Sr., Patricia A. Hamilton Powell, Marie Pizzo Hoeffner, Richard Hoeffner all of Southampton, NJ, and Florence Marinella Stackhouse of Mt. Holly, NJ. He is also survived by his nieces Sophia M. Cahall and Autumn A. Godwin, and nephew David J. Cahall, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

• Theresa: “In his early years, Shawn was active in a few youth groups, being mostly involved in the Pioneer Boys at Easton Union Church. He played baseball for three years and soccer for two out of Tabernacle, NJ. Shawn also spent his youth as a member of the Cub Scouts. Later in his life, he worked many odd jobs and was HVAC and EPA certified. Shawn was smart and always kept busy. He was caring and thought a lot about his family and friends; he always took time to help others before himself. He was patient, courageous, daring and adventurous. Shawn is loved and will be missed by many.”

• Destiny: “The relationship I had with my dad was always up and down because of life decisions, but the love I had for him never changed. When life was tough, I stuck by him and said, ‘"That’s my dad, and I'll always love him."’ My dad was young when he had me, 17 years old, and he didn't know what to do with me, especially since he wanted a son; however, he tried his best, and everyone, even myself, I think he did a good job. When I was little I tagged along everywhere with my dad. Well, almost everywhere. I was his little side-kick and he was my hero. He was there for every little cut and scratch, even though he had to trick me to clean my cuts with alcohol and I’d be a little mad, but I know he was doing his job as a parent, and I can't ever thank him enough.”

• Michelle: “From the day I met him to the day God took him away from us, he was a go getter and very driven. Shawn was very smart, sometimes too smart for his own good at times. He was determined to be a great father and son. We had our ups and downs but we definitely loved each other with all of our hearts. We wanted each other to do better and to be better in order to be the best for each other and Destiny. Shawn was very brave, he was a hard worker; he was very caring and loyal—he wanted his family to be taken care of and safe. Shawn was very hard-headed and things had to be his way. The reason he was like that was because he really felt, in his heart, that his way was better. Shawn you are my first and every day that goes by I wonder what life would have been like if you were my last. You are loved so much by me and will never be forgotten.”
