Joseph Mooney, age 98, died at home on August 22, 2019 and was reunited with his wife of 65 years and two infant sons Joseph, Jr and Gerard. Joe was the beloved husband of Maureen Mooney (née Smyth) and the twin brother of William (Bill) Mooney, brother John (Bud) Mooney and Mary Meakim. Joe told everyone he met that he had 5 daughters and 1 son of whom he was very proud. They are Jeanne Hutton (Tad), Joanne Mooney, Mary Kay Hepner (Bill), Nancy Flynn (Michael), Harry Mooney (Ann) and Lorraine Stockburger (George). He is also the proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was a devoted husband, father and role model who worked hard to give his family all that we could ever need to be safe, secure and feel loved. Joseph proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Relatives and friends are invited to St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, 40 Jackson Road, Medford, NJ 08055 on Tuesday, August 27th. Viewing 2-3 PM, Mass of Christian Burial 3 PM. Private Burial on Wednesday, August 28th. All are invited for a luncheon immediately following Mass to celebrate Joe Mooney’s life and share stories of our One-of-a-Kind Dad.
