Paula Vaughan Obituary

PAULA JANET (Turner) VAUGHAN, 83 died peacefully in her sleep on December 28, 2019. At the time of her death, she had recently moved to Medford Lakes, NJ to live with her son and his family and had just enjoyed her first Christmas surrounded by three of her four grandchildren and four of her eight great-grandchildren. She was born on June 8, 1936 in Sweetwater OK to Mack and Estelle Turner. When she was six years old, the family moved to Canby, OR where she grew up. She met her first husband, Harvey Christensen while he was visiting his family in the area. They moved several times as Harvey was in the Navy. They divorced while they were living in the Seattle area. She went to work for the Washington Natural Gas Co. where she met Bob Vaughan. They married and moved to Bellevue, WA. They divorced in 1972 and Paula moved to San Jose, CA. She spent her remaining years with her long-time friend John Zehms, who predeceased her by two months. She was a wonderful pianist until arthritis in recent years made it too difficult to play, but she continued to enjoy listening to classical music. She enjoyed figure skating while young and loved keeping up with all the world figure skating competitions over the years. She also enjoyed needlepoint and made birth samplers for each of her four grandchildren. She is survived by one son, Mark Christensen (Mary) of Medford Lakes, NJ. Also, her grandchildren, LCDR Daniel (Courtney) Christensen of Pensacola, FL; Matthew (Holly) Christensen of Matthews, NC; Laura (Samuel) Gillson of Newport, RI; and Jonathan Christensen of New York, NY. She also has eight great-grandchildren Cayden, Colton, Connor, Delaney, Lucy, Eleanor, Gabriel, and Carolyn. She is survived by her two brothers, Joe Gus Turner of Portland, OR and Jan Turner of Indianapolis, IN. Interment will be private. Funeral arrangements were by Bradley & Stow Funeral Home, Medford, NJ.  (www.BradleyStow.com)
