CALVIN THOMAS KING JR. “Tom”, age 93, of Medford, NJ passed away peacefully on Friday, March 27th, 2026. Tom or affectionately known as “Fred” to his family was born and grew up in Wilmington, DE. He attended Blair Academy Preparatory School in Blairstown, NJ and graduated from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA with a BA in Economics. After graduating from Bucknell, Tom was drafted into the US Army and attended Basic Training at Fort Jackson in South Carolina. He was then stationed at Ft. Carson in Colorado with the 8th division. In September 1956 he was deployed to Ulm, Germany under Operation Gyroscope and served as a Morse code operator. While in Germany he played baseball on the 5th Army Regiment baseball team and was always proud to say that during his time on the team they only lost 2 games.
Tom grew up playing baseball as a pitcher and after graduating from college received an invitation from the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball club for spring training. Unfortunately, he had been drafted and was unable to accept the invitation. Tom had a career in insurance sales and was awarded several trips to Europe for being the top salesman of the year. He was an avid golfer and worked as a ranger at Little Mill Country Club for many years after he retired. He will be deeply missed by his family.
Tom is survived by his wife of 65 years, Juliet of Medford, NJ and children Robin Samuelian (Sam) of Medford Lakes, NJ and Eric King of Yardley, PA. He was predeceased by his son Shawn King. He is also survived by grandchildren Brooke Samuelian, Leah Geary (Taylor), Nick Samuelian, Kiernan King, Garrik King and Tessa King, as well as great grandchildren Jameson and Logan Geary.
