It is with great sadness and reverence we announce the passing of David Charles Copeland. David was born March 23, 1939, in Camden, New Jersey. At the age of 82, on January 15th, 2022, he passed away at his home in Medford, New Jersey. He attended Glassboro College, studying Journalism after high school. David ended up becoming a Surveyor and created his own company, Copeland Surveying Inc. If you’ve ever been to Philadelphia or Atlantic City, then you’ve seen many of the skyscrapers his company has helped construct. He was a PROUD union carpenter for over 40 years.
David is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years Catharina; five loving children: Christopher, Karin, Michael (Kim), Nicholas (Cassidy), Lisen (Ian); six adoring grandchildren: Lydia, Owen, Jack, Jude, Erik, and Josiefine; dear niece Constance Sota, and many close friends.
David was passionate about many things, including time spent with loved ones, environmental conservation, skiing, Vermont, LBI, music, food, wood working, and any time spent in nature. One thing his family and friends found comforting about a person like “Big Dave'' is that they don’t really die because they've left such a mark on the world and on the living, that they will always live on. Our love for him and the incredible number of memories associated with him mean that he will still be with us for many years to come.
A visitation will be held on January 22, 2022 from 10AM-11AM at Protestant Community Church 100 Stokes Road, Medford Lakes, 08055. A funeral service will begin at 11AM. Interment will follow in Woodbury Memorial Park 879 Kings Highway, West Deptford, NJ 08096. Funeral arrangements under the direction of the Bradley & Stow Funeral Home 127 Medford-Mt. Holly Rd., Medford, NJ 08055
A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date in May of this year. In lieu of flowers, you can donate to The Sierra Club Foundation, act.sierraclub.org/donate/ which promotes climate solutions and conservation.
