They were able to hold her hands and comfort her until the end. Born in Newark, NJ, she is the daughter of the late Louis Eugenio and Louise (nee Cristinziani) Astone. Survived by her caring husband John (JP) Price of Southampton, NJ, and her loving son Nicholas Price (Mina) and predeceased by her beloved son Derek Julian Price. Devoted grandmother of 2 grandchildren, Adrianna, and Giovanni. Dear sister to Louise Melillo (Frank) and Edmund Astone. Irene grew up in Maplewood NJ and attended Columbia High school. Her 1969 graduation class included the famous Max Weinberg, who was the long-time drummer for Bruce Springfield’s E Street Band. She attended Monmouth University in West Long Branch NJ for two years where she met JP the love of her life in 1971. They married Sept 11, 1976 at St Michael Church in Long Branch. She loved going to Rock concerts seeing almost 40 of the top bands in the country, including Frank Sinatra 4 times.
Irene and JP settled in Southampton NJ where they raised their two sons. Her career as Title Settlement agent lasted almost 30 years. Irene was tremendously crafty, often doing crafts with her grandchildren and their friends. She was especially talented in crocheting Christmas ornaments and was so excited to give them out as gifts. You can tell that she put her heart into each one of her homemade creations and they brought joy to so many.
Her grandchildren called her Nonna, and she loved spending as much time as possible with them. She was always there when she was needed and took her role as Math tutor seriously. Irene, Mom, Nonna will forever be missed.
