John George Burfeind

John George Burfeind, a longtime resident of St. Michaels, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 5th, 2026, at the age of 95. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the beloved son of the late Charles and Berta (nee Voss) Burfeind. John spent the last year and a half of his life in Southampton after relocating from St. Michaels.

John dedicated 35 years of his career as a Financial Analyst at IBM in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey. A proud graduate of the City College of New York (CCNY), he continued his commitment to public service after retirement by working as a court clerk in Park Ridge, New Jersey, where he also raised his family.

He was the devoted husband of the late Anna (nee Pape) Burfeind and a loving father to Eric Burfeind and his wife Joanmarie of Longmont, Colorado; Lisa Murray and her husband Mark Michaud of Bronx, New York; Heidi Baur of Southampton, New Jersey; and Christine Marze and her husband John of Park Ridge, New Jersey. John was also a cherished grandfather to Peter and his wife Kristin, Kathryn and her husband Matt, and Beth Ann and her husband Leif. He took great joy in his great-grandchildren Lucy, Tommy, Blaire, Matilda, Myles, and Leni. He is survived by his sister, MaryAnne Denys.

John had a passion for scouting, camping, and traveling, often exploring the outdoors in his VW Westfalia alongside his wife. Summers spent at his home in Speculator, New York, were filled with family adventures and a shared love for National Parks, which he lovingly instilled in his family. He was actively involved in his local church communities, Camp Trexler, and various community service efforts.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Thursday, August 6th, 2026 from 11:00am to 1:00 PM at the Bradley & Stow Funeral Home, located at 127 Medford-Mt. Holly Road, Medford, New Jersey. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Resident Fund of CareOne at Evesham Assisted Living. Please indicate "Resident Fund" on the check.
