Alexander M. Churchill

January 21, 1934 ~ April 14, 2017 (age 83) 83 Years Old

ALEXANDER M. CHURCHILL of Medford, NJ, passed away on Friday, April 14th, 2017, at the age of 83.  Born in Waterbury, CT, he is the son of the late Alexander and Sylvia Churchill and brother of John Churchill (deceased) and Marlene Tosun of Wolcott CT.  Alex was a proud graduate of Union College, where he earned a bachlor’s degree in engineering and made great friends in his fraternity, Chi Psi. The founder of AM Churchill Associates in Berlin, he was well respected and accomplished as a Professional Engineer, Planner and Licensed Surveyor. In recent years, Alex traveled to El Salvador to work with Engineers Without Borders and design a village well, providing safe drinking water to the local community.  Alex lived in Medford for 58 years, raising his family in Lake Pine. He later restored and moved to his beautiful farmhouse on New Freedom Road. Alex also loved his home and his many friends on Long Beach Island, where he was famous as a master clam chowder maker.  Alex enjoyed placing ridiculous bids while playing cards with friends. He loved an early morning swim in the ocean, long road trips to New England with no bathroom breaks, and a well-made chicken cacciatore. Alex enjoyed gardening, herding chickens and buying yet another old tractor at the farm auction. He was a voracious reader, antique collector, and woodworker. He could often be found wearing a tilly hat and making a dry joke.  He is the Beloved Husband of Elaine Churchill of Medford, NJ and the Loving Father of Robert Churchill (Sheri) and the late Philip Churchill.  Alexander is the wonderful Grandfather of Robbie, Katherine and Alex.  He is a loving uncle to Sylvia Tosun, Gabrielle Bailey, Philip Dubois and dear friend to Jerry, KC, Drew, Taylor and Zach McHale.  Relatives and friends are invited to greet his family on Thursday April 20, 2017 from 10:30 AM -12:30PM at the LAKESIDE CLUBHOUSE, BLUE HERON COURT, MEDFORD NJ.  A Celebration of his life will follow at 12:30PM.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Bradley & Stow Funeral Home.  In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family requests donations to the Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, 1242 South Broad St., Philadelphia PA 19146-3119 (please donate to the El Salvador Mission).  (Bradleystow.com)
