DOROTHY GOLDMAN (Nee Mendolia), 95, of Manahawkin, NJ, passed away on Wednesday August 21, 2019 at Hackensack Meridian Health Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin, NJ. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, she is the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Mendolia and wife to the late Ellis Goldman.
Dorothy received an Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Rider University. Losing her husband at a young age and having to raise five children, she went to work for the Burlington County Social Services Agency. She eventually was hired by the State of NJ, Department of Human Services working in the Division of Family Development, writing policies in a supervisory capacity. She retired in 1991 after 30 years of service. Her success led her to spend 28 wonderful years post retirement enjoying the things she loved most – her children, carving, cooking, playing piano and her pet dogs, especially Sophie. She loved the world of art as well and enjoyed painting, principally Chinese watercolor, and entered her artwork in numerous art gallery shows winning awards. She had a love for life and an energy unmatchable to most.
Dorothy was a food connoisseur and was an excellent cook where she spent many hours watching and testing recipes from the different food network shows.
Dorothy is the Beloved Mother of her surviving children, Rory Goldman, Barbara Headley (David), Janice van de Velde, Audrey Prentice (David), Susan Cunningham (Bruce Tracy). Dorothy is the Loving Grandmother of William Brian Weaver, Graham Goldman (Megan), Adam, Jennifer and Lauren Headley, and Great Grandmother to Olivia Headley. She is sister to the late Robert Mendolia and the late Iona Rhodes. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Thursday, August 29 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the BRADLEY & STOW FUNERAL HOME, 127 Medford-Mt. Holly Rd., Medford, NJ. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11 AM. Interment will follow at the Park View Cemetery at Kirby’s Mill, 25 Fostertown Rd, Medford.
