Anna Smith Obituary

Anna “Ann” Vivian (Landry) Smith of Leisuretowne, New Jersey, formerly a longtime resident of Florence, New Jersey, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on September 20, 2025 at Samaritan Hospice Voorhees after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. She is survived by her loving husband, John T. Smith, who she met at Surf City, New Jersey after being brought together by mutual friends. Together they celebrated 60 years of marriage raising their three daughters, Colleen Treusch (husband John), Kimberly Smith and Michelle Dressel (husband David) in Florence, New Jersey.

She loved doting on her grandchildren and shared a special bond with each one of them—Rebecca Hoffman (husband Ryan) and Zachary Treusch, Carley and Natalie Tool and Amanda and Ryan Dressel. She also adored her great-grandchildren, Henry and Hayes Hoffman, and was joyfully anticipating the arrival of her third great-grandchild.

Daughter of the late J.P. Edmond Landry and Vivian (Vertefeuille) Landry.  Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, she grew up alongside her beloved brothers, Robert “Jake” Landry and George Landry. The family later settled in Burlington, New Jersey, where they were active members of St. Paul Catholic Church. Ann went on to graduate from Burlington City High School.

She enjoyed a fulfilling career in finance, earning her Municipal Finance Officer certification from Rutgers University. Over the years, she worked at Griffin Pipe, served Florence Township as Municipal Finance Officer and Board of Education Treasurer and later cared for residents of Masonic Village as their accountant. She was best known for her kindness and laughter always offering sweet treats and delighting visitors with the playful holiday novelty toys that she kept in her office. She was deeply involved in her community, serving as a Girl Scout leader and volunteering with the PTA and the Florence Township Food Pantry.

Ann lived a memorable life, always lighting up every room she entered and leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met, from her purple hair to her sparkly nails. Music was at the heart of her life whether she was listening on her eight-track player or turntable, playing the flute or piano or enjoying her recent favorite, the Connie Francis music channel. She was deeply involved in choir throughout the years, singing with the Florence United Methodist Church, Cinnaminson Community Singers, Florence Township Community Singers and the Burlington Entertainers. Known for her signature boa, attendees looked forward to seeing Ann’s solos each year.  Most recently, she joined the Leisuretowne Curtain Callers, adding acting to her list of accomplishments.

She was a talented seamstress creating matching outfits for her three daughters and even for their many dolls they loved to play with. Shopping was another favorite hobby, which often turned into marathon outings with her girls. She also treasured her lunch dates with her high school friends and recently found great joy in cheering on the Phillies.

Ann remained positive throughout her battle with cancer, focusing on the angel caregivers and remaining hopeful for a cure while continuing to set goals each step along the way. One of the last goals she set for herself was to celebrate their 61st wedding anniversary on October 17. Although she passed before that day, the love and positivity she shared continue to live on as her lasting legacy. “Be positive! Set goals! Be happy!”

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of Ann Smith to Deborah Hospital Foundation, an organization she helped raise money for each year with her choir, the Burlington Entertainers.
