BENJAMIN W. PERKINS SR. of Berlin, New Jersey passed away peacefully on August 30, 2023 at the age of 89 years old. Born in Camden, New Jersey he is the son of the late Benjamin Wesley Perkins and Lena DePasquale Perkins. Ben has been married to his beloved wife Geraldine Carels Perkins for 69 years. He is the proud father of daughter Pinky Frankel and son Ben Perkins Jr. and wife Susan Drylie. Above all he treasured his grandchildren Josh Frankel (and Lauren Oliver) of Wilmington, Delaware, Jenna Frankel of Los Angeles, Ca., Ben Drylie-Perkins, wife Jenn Bishop and great granddaughter Annabel Bishop Perkins of Brooklyn, New York and Rebecca Drylie-Perkins of Denver, Colorado.
Ben began as a stable employee in his teens and rose to become one of the most respected and knowledgeable horsemen in the country. Some of his most outstanding accomplishments centered upon helping friends, family, coworkers and those less fortunate. If you were to mention his name at any thoroughbred racetrack, in any neighborhood where he lived, or among any family or friends it would be said that Ben was one of a kind who relished in the success of others as well as his own. Ben was quick with a smile, a handshake and remembered everyone. He enjoyed all sports, fishing, golfing, traveling, the races, friends and family. Ben was a snappy dresser, loved a great hat and was rarely seen in anything but his cowboy boots. Ben had many interesting and unique experiences, all of which he loved to share by telling a good story! He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Friends and relatives are invited to his viewing on September 8, 2023 from 10:00-11:00 am, Funeral Service to follow at Bradley and Stow Funeral Home, 127 Medford-Mt. Holly Rd., Medford, New Jersey. Interment will be at Parkview Cemetery in Historic Medford, New Jersey.
