Carmen Gerobela (Gayoso) Iovine

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carmen G. Iovine (nee-Gayoso), age 79, of Medford, NJ, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025 surrounded by her family. Born on August 29, 1945 in NY, Carmen was the beloved daughter of the late Jośe and Carmen Gayoso. She was also predeceased by her devoted husband of 50 years and the love of her life, Frank Iovine.

A longtime resident of Toms River, before moving to Medford, Carmen dedicated her life to her family, faith and community. She was a devoted member of the Roman Catholic Church, first at St Luke’s Parish in Toms River, where she taught in the CCD program and later at St Mary of the Lakes Parish. There, she found joy and purpose singing in the choir, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, and teaching in the PREP program. Her deep faith and kind spirit were a blessing to all who knew her.

Carmen was the cherished mother of Frank Iovine (Michelle), Scott Iovine (Suzanne), and Cynthia Mielo (James) and the proud and loving grandmother of eight grandchildren: Ryan, Alex, James, Julia, Paige, Gianna, Ava and Alexa. As the matriarch of the family, Carmen’s warmth, strength and unwavering love will be forever missed and fondly remembered.

Throughout her career, Carmen worked with dedication at Jersey Shore Savings and Loan, Sovereign Bank, and Janney Montgomery Scott. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, creating countless joyful memories. This love was matched by her passion for dogs, particularly her cherished Yorkies, and her active involvement in the Yorkshire Terrier Club.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, June 12th from 2 PM - 4 PM and 6 PM - 8 PM and on Friday, June 13th from 8:30 – 9:30 AM at the Bradley and Stow Funeral Home on 127 Medford-Mt Holly Rd, Medford, NJ 08055. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 13th at 10:30 AM at St Mary of the Lakes R.C. Church, 40 Jackson Rd, Medford, NJ. Interment will follow at approximately 1:00 PM at the Ocean County Memorial Park 122 Silverton Rd Toms River, NJ 08753

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the St Mary of the Lakes School 196 NJ - Rt. 70, Medford, NJ 08055 or donations can be made in Carmen’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959 or at stjude.org.
