Charles Martin (Chuck) Whitney, age 88, of Medford, NJ, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 18, 2024 with his family by his side. Born December 20, 1935 in Northeast Minneapolis, MN, he was the son of Semona Gunhild (nee Johnson) and Charles Francis Whitney. He was the loving husband of Janice (nee DeBow) Whitney.
Chuck served in the USAF from 1953 to 1957 and was stationed in Japan as a Morse Code Intercept Operator. Chuck worked for United Parcel Service throughout his career as an Industrial Engineering Manager. A private pilot, he was a lifelong learner, enjoying technology, music, horses, dogs, card games and traveling. He was a keen storyteller and a proud husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He will be deeply missed and remembered with much love by his wife of 46 years, Janice (nee DeBow) Whitney; children, Kathryn Whitney (Thaddeus Keefe), Chuck Whitney (Marsha Karpinen), Carolyn Poreda (Mike), Gail Whitney, and Brian (Beth) Eaves; his brother, Frank (Kay) Whitney; grandchildren, Tess (Adam) Fetterly, Michael Sanek, and Kaitlyn and Julia Eaves; nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A memorial visitation will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 14 at Bradley & Stow Funeral Home, 127 Medford-Mt. Holly Rd, Medford, NJ, followed by a brief memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a local ASPCA or animal shelter.
