Dorothy S. Troup (nee Schaum) of Medford Lakes, NJ passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 3, 2022. She was 98 years of age.
Dottie was the beloved wife of the late George Troup; caring mother to Patricia Migiani and her husband AD; fabulous Nanny to Stefani Kirk and her husband Alfred; adoring Great Nanny and game playing buddy to Alfie and Dorothea Kirk. Dottie was the sister to Robert Schaum, his wife Edith Mae, and the late Barbara Miller.
Born in 1924, Dorothy attended secretarial college in 1940 and loved her work in center city Philadelphia. In 1960, Dorothy and George were led to a perfectly quaint small town, Medford Lakes, and quickly became immersed in all the community had to offer. They were active together in the Rotary, Lions Club, and at the Medford Lakes Country Club; Dorothy was also involved in the Medford Lakes Junior Women’s Club and a member of the Eastern Star. When not in town, you could expect Dottie and George to be traveling and exploring the world.
In her later years, Dottie would often be found with friends, shopping, playing bridge, at the theater, or walking a round of 9 at the golf course. Dorothy enjoyed doing yardwork, crossword puzzles, or simply sitting on the porch with a glass of wine. She always found a way to stay busy but at the end of the day, there was no place she’d rather be than home with her family in the town she loved most.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Thursday, December 8, 2022 from 3:00-5:00 PM at Bradley & Stow Funeral Home 127 Medford - Mt. Holly Road, Medford, NJ 08055. The funeral service will begin at 5:00 PM. The interment ceremony will be privately held at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562 on Monday, December 12th, 2022.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family request memorial donations be made in Dorothy's name to the Medford Lakes Lions Club, P.O. Box 2105, Medford Lakes, NJ 08055. (www.BradleyStow.com)
