Eleanor Anderson Obituary

Eleanor “Elly” H. Anderson of Tabernacle, NJ passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 24, 2022. She was 97 years of age. Born in Hackensack, NJ, she is the daughter of the late Margaret (nee Knies) and the late William W. Simons, II.

In her younger years, Elly enjoyed being a leader in a 4-H sewing club; she also loved to sew clothes, read, travel and video-journal, square dance, play card games and make reversible “Grandmother’s Flower Garden” quilts (she made 16 in total, giving them to all her descendants). Elly was actively involved during the early years of Tupperware as a dealer/manager, and Weight Watchers as a member and clerk. She also worked as a bookkeeper at an auto parts store and, after retiring to Florida, she worked part time at Walt Disney World. Elly especially loved the beach and being in the water, whether ocean or pool. Summers in retirement were spent in Marmora and at Ocean City, NJ. Elly was extremely sociable, loved conversation and meeting new people.

Elly is the beloved wife of the late Charles, loving mother of Margaret ‘Peggy’ Sloan and the late James ‘Jim’ Anderson, adoring grandmother of Frederick Sloan and his wife Veronica; Danial Sloan and his wife Laurie; Jillian Sloan; the late Michael Sloan; and Christopher Anderson. Elly is the sister of the late William Simons III, and Smokey Simons and his wife Cher. Elly (aka ‘Nan’ or ‘Nanny’) leaves behind 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
