Eloise Miller Obituary

ELOISE D. MILLER (nee Davis), age 93, of the Masonic Village in Burlington, NJ went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. She was born in Southampton, NJ to the late Mabel (nee Bunning) and Charles E. Davis.

Her quiet manner spoke loudly at times, because of her Christian faith and testimony. She was active in her church, taught Sunday School, played piano, participated in Vacation Bible School, etc. She was always eager to serve with gladness whether it was to a friend or stranger. Eloise touched many lives through and to the end of her life.  Cookies, cakes, lemon meringue pies were her key favorite desserts for many. Baking and cake decorating were her hobbies which later became her profession from her home on the farm.  Sewing started as a hobby. She often taught sewing classes as well.  Chances are at one time or another, you were the recipient of a note card or card from her. She had a running list of monthly anniversaries, birthdays, or "just becauses."  Her correspondence brought joy to grade school students, pen pals, and a Prison Ministry Program.

Shirley Temple, Madame Alexander, and others were all part of a lifelong interest in collecting dolls. She was always glad to share her interest with others.

Of course, there was her joy of collies, her chosen family pet.  Most recently, Eloise's life was lived at Masonic Village of Burlington in the Lilac Unit. From the 1st floor to the third, she knew and the family knew that she "still mattered" and how much she mattered. There were more that she and her daughter came to know better and more frequently (you know who you are) but to all there- she was "home" when she peacefully left us to go even further. Thank you for being her "angels unawares" many times over.  Along with the compassionate care she received while at Masonic Village, Amedisys Hospice Care became a part of her life a little over a year ago. She and her family feel the same- "Angels Unawares". Again, you know who you are if we got to know you better and more frequently. However, we were blessed by all of the different care team members. Thank you for that!

Eloise is predeceased by her husband Joseph, her two brothers Quentin R. and Newell E. Davis. She is the Beloved Mother of Marylee Miller of Vincentown, NJ and also survived by her niece Donna Davis Smith (Chattanooga, TN) and Charlotte Davenport (Darrell) Chattanooga, TN, as well as many nieces, great nieces, nephews, and great nephews.
