Evelyn R. Epps was born on February 5, 1956, in Goldsboro North Carolina, to the late Ben R. Williams and Rita Mae Williams.
Evelyn received her formal education in the Philadelphia public school system. She received her BS degree from Beaver College in Pennsylvania, where she majored in Computer Science and minored in mathematics.
Evelyn united in marriage to David M. Epps Sr. from South Carolina on June 27, 1988 in Fairfax County Virginia. From this union were born two sons David Michael Epps Jr and Daniel Marsalis Epps. She was a devoted wife and mother.
In 2001 Evelyn moved with her family to Medford New Jersey.
She was employed by CSC (Computer Science Corp) that later became ASMs Federal. She leaves many friends between two companies AFMS Federal and Lockheed Martin.
Evelyn accepted the Lord at an young age. Later in life she joined the Evergreen Baptist Church, Palmyra, NJ. Rev. Dr. Guy Campbell Jr. Pastor.
She loved helping people, she called to check on the sick and elderly on a daily basis.
Like her mother Rita Williams, Evelyn loved the flea markets. She spent every Saturday at the Berlin Flea Market with her sister, great nephews and children. Always bringing home some trinkets, dolls and trains or whatever caught her eye. She was a real collector, and was very organized with the objects she collected.
Evelyn loved working outside in the yard and she was an avid gardener. She grew blueberries, grapes, and tomatoes.
She was a great cook, and every meal was prepared with great care for her family and friends. There were always sweet potato pies during the holidays. Evelyn was the historian for her family reunions. She presented an awesome presentation of her family with photos.
Evelyn loved to watch movies, and the old TV shows with Andy of Mayberry being her favorite.
Evelyn entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 30, 2024 and leaves to cherish her memory and legacy her loving husband David M. Epps Sr., two sons David Michael Epps, Jr and Daniel Marsalis Epps.
She is survived by her brother Ben R. Williams III and her sister Cecelia Williams.
Nephews Lionel Cook and Curtis Cook (Ashley), Caleb, Liam and a great nice Journey. Also, a sister/friend Mina Bennett.
Evelyn was proceeded in death by her sister Lynda Faye Brown and her brother Donnell Williams.
Evelyn’s passing leaves a great void in the lives of her family and all who knew her. She will be greatly missed. Her smile and humor would light up any occasion.
Only love, family, friends, faith and remembrance will heal the sorrow we all feel.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Tuesday morning, January 7, 2025 from 10:00 to 11:00AM at the Bradley & Stow Funeral Home, 127 Medford-Mt. Holly Road, Medford, NJ 08055. Celebration of Life Service to Follow at 11:00AM. Interment private.
