Henry Weiner Obituary

Henry “Sonny” J. Weiner, age 88, formerly of Delran, NJ, then retired to Lake Worth, FL, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer for almost two decades. He showed unwavering strength and resiliency every step of the way, his legacy of bravery will continue to inspire.

Born December 19, 1935, in South Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Helen and David Weiner, nee Garish. Shortly after graduation, Henry followed in his father’s footsteps and became a tractor trailer driver. Then, joined the Teamsters union and continued this path for most of his career. He earned many awards & was recognized for his flawless safe driving record.

In 1960, Henry married Anna Vidas and had three children, Carol, Gary, & Cindy. He lost Anna way too soon but had to carry on providing love & guidance for his children. The close bond with his children continued throughout his life. Henry had strong spiritual beliefs and never lost his faith. That became his anchor, he relied on his faith for strength.

He later married Patricia and became a blended family along with Patricia’s children Karen, Michael, & Joe.

After retiring, he became a special needs school bus driver in Cinnaminson. This gave him great pleasure. He embraced the challenges and offered encouragement every day.  His empathy and understanding allowed him to bond and build trusting, loving relationships.

Henry led by example, a man of many talents. He had a strong work ethic and instilled these values in his children and grandchildren. He was a strong advocate of living a healthy, balanced lifestyle, which provided him with the foundation to battle Multiple Myeloma for many years.

Henry’s most cherished role was that as a grandfather, “Pop”. He thoroughly enjoyed the time spent with his grandchildren.

Dad, you will be greatly missed. You were someone we could count on, always providing good advice without judgement. We find comfort in knowing your legacy will live on through your stories, lessons taught, and the love we shared. We will cherish the memories forever.

Henry is survived by his wife Patricia (nee Renzi); children, Carol (Joseph) Gurzynski, Gary Weiner, Cindy (Jim) McGory, Karen (Bob), Mike (Wendy), Joe (Mary); grandchildren, Danielle, Marissa (Erik), Zachary, Michael (Holly), Devin, Brooke (Doug), and Joseph; great-grandchildren, Emersyn, Anthony, Giovanni, Douglas, Maisyn, Vivienne, & Michael, and numerous nieces and nephews.
