Herman “Kent” Bischoff, age 80 years, lifelong resident of Hainesport, N. J., passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 20th, 2024.
He was the beloved husband of the late Martha (née McAleer) and loving father of Kent and his wife Jennifer Bischoff, and Kareen and her husband Jeffrey Richardson. He was the proud grandfather of Emma, Justin, and Brendan Bischoff, and Mason Richardson.
From a young age, Kent was very mechanical and had a lifelong interest in old Ford cars and trucks. At night, after working a full day, he would fix other people’s cars in a small, tin covered garage that he built himself. He enjoyed dirt track and drag racing with his son and helping his wife and daughter with their horses.
In 1969, at the age of 25, Kent and his wife started a home heating oil delivery service. Together, they operated their business and gave faithful service to their customers for 26 years.
After suffering a near-fatal vehicle accident in 1995, he healed quickly and complained little about his lingering ailments. He was able to spend valuable time with his grandchildren and watch them grow to adulthood.
He was a dedicated gardener and sold tomatoes on his roadside vegetable stand. He loved Rock ‘n Roll and Country music; especially when his grandsons, Mason and Justin, would play guitar and sing to him.
Throughout his life, Kent remained lighthearted and jovial. Though he was often a quiet man, he had the uncanny ability to listen to you and say the most profound thing at the perfect time. His kind and gentle nature earned him many friends along the way, and he was always quick to lend a helping hand.
His memory will forever be cherished.
All funeral services will be private for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you remember your best times with Kent and keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
