Howard Williams Obituary

Howard James Williams of Medford, NJ passed away suddenly on June 29, 2022 at the age of 89.  

Howard grew up in Philadelphia where he attended Dobbins High School.  He also attended Harvard University and the University of Penn. He served his country honorably as a Commanding Officer of the Seventeenth Infantry Regiment in the Korean War.   Howard married his high school sweetheart, Trudy in 1956.  Howard and Trudy lived in Maple Shade, NJ for 40 years where they raised their six children.  Howard was President and International Vice President of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 56 AFL-CIO where he retired in 1997.  He traveled to magnificent parts of the world including Jerusalem, and Rome where he and Trudy personally met Pope John Paul II and had many great experiences.  Howard’s greatest passion and source of pride was his extended close-knit family.  He was an avid supporter of his grandchildren’s sports and other activities and was a regular fan at their grade-school, high school, and college sports including field hockey, football, baseball, and cheerleading.  He also loved the Jersey shore and all activities related to the beach.  His home in Sea Isle City, NJ was a place of great joy for him and Trudy and a central gathering place for his family where many wonderful memories were made.

Howard is beloved husband of Trudy (nee Walsh), loving father of Kimberly Chwastyk (John) of Delanco, NJ, Karen Cordisco (Nick) of Marco Island, FL, Joseph Williams (Jennifer) of Cinnaminson, NJ, Michael Williams (Therese) of Venice, FL, Kristin Love (Dan) of Naples, FL, Karla Radwell (Brian) of Naples, FL; adoring grandfather of Meredith Nowak (Alex), Anthony Chwastyk (Katie), Lauren Caulk (Kevin), Nick Williams (Karla), Sean Williams (Cynthia), Amanda Roel (Dan), Victoria Bondra (David), Kevin Love (Kristen), Julia Radwell, Elizabeth Love, Jeffrey Love, Olivia Radwell; great-grandfather of Bryce, Brooks, Anthony, Emerson, Danielle, Alexander, Charles, Sophia, Savannah, and Wells, and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his mother Margaret Grourke, father James Williams, and sisters Audrey Beschel and Naomi Williams.

Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 10AM-Noon in the Bradley & Stow Funeral Home 127 Medford-Mt. Holly Road, Medford, NJ 08055.  A funeral service will be held at Noon.  Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery 2398 Route 70, Cherry Hill, NJ 08002.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Light Early Education Center, 446 East Camden Ave, Moorestown, NJ 08057.
