James Thomas McCready, Sr., 96, formerly of Southampton, NJ, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025. James was born in Camden, NJ to Thomas McCready and Eva (nee Shahan).
James was an active participant in the church family of GALATIA Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville, NC where he attended Bible study. He loved attending services there. James was an active member of the Marine Corps League and a member of the VFW serving in the USMC during the Korean War. James received the American Red Cross Blood Donor Award. He was employed by Magnetic Medals located in Camden, NJ for over 35 years. James served as a volunteer on the Ambulance Corp as well as a volunteer crossing guard in Lindenwold, NJ. James enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren as well as his great grandchildren how to fish. He loved being around fellow marines and veterans. He also loved singing tunes as a member of the choir at Harmony Assisted Living among his friends. James loved sharing the story of his wife Margaret and how they were married for 64 years.
James is the beloved husband of the late Margaret (nee Kilroy), loving father to James McCready, Jr. (Lorraine) of Burlington, NJ, Margaret Dederick (Dan) of Fayetteville, NC, and Karen Buchanan (Robert Sr.) of Southampton, NJ, Terri Lee Costa (Michael) of Clementon, NJ, the late Daniel McCready (Dawn) of Pine Hill, NJ, doting grandfather of Sean, Christine McCready, Matthew, April Dederick, Bobby and Leah Buchanan, Kenny McCready, Andrew Costa, Danny McCready, Jr. Adoring great-grandfather of Paige and Emma Dederick, Ayden and Chase Buchanan, Dalyn Dederick, Huck Walton, Quinn McCready. Dear brother of the late Veronica McCready. and survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing at the Bradley & Stow Funeral Home 127 Medford-Mt. Holly Road, Medford, NJ 08055 on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 from 10AM to 11AM. A funeral service will be held at 11AM. Entombment will follow at Locustwood Memorial Park, Cherry Hill, NJ.
