JAMES E. YAWNEY, 77, passed away peacefully from colon cancer on February 13, 2021 at his home in Medford, N.J. In his final days, he was surrounded by his beloved family.
He was born in Freeport, N.Y. and grew up in Southampton, Long Island. He treasured his childhood memories of spending summers at his grandparents’ dairy farm in upstate New York with his many aunts, uncles and cousins. As a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during the Cuban Missile Crisis on a destroyer blockading Russian ships. Blessed with the gift of gab, he was a salesman, primarily in commercial real estate, for most of his professional life.
Jim had an enthusiasm for life that was contagious. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, the beach, making people laugh, and most especially, being with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Donna, daughters Stacey (Christopher Cram) Yawney, Jayme (Michael) Gerber, grandsons Bodhi and Kai Gerber, and Rocco and Dominick Cram. Other survivors include brother-in-law John (Leann) Volpa, brothers William and Edward Yawney, sister Kathryn Molgano and many cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to a service at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, N.J. on February 23 at 1:00 p.m. Funeral arrangements are through Bradley & Stow Funeral Home, Medford, N.J., (bradleystow.com)
