Jessica Mauel Obituary

January 14, 1983 - August 11, 2025

Jessica Mauel went to be with Jesus on August 11th after a courageous seven-year battle with breast cancer. She was the beloved daughter of Karen and John Wager of Southampton NJ, and Gregg and Sue Mauel of Speedway, IN. She is survived by her loving aunts and uncle, Evelyn and Fred Brock of Green Valley, AZ; Diane Oelig of Missoula, MT, and Donna Parks of Moncks Corner, SC. She is also survived by her loving Godparents, Claire and Larry Heinbach of Langhorne, PA, and special friends Courtney Gardiner of Laurel Springs NJ, Roseanne Rowe, of Shamong NJ, Helen Mitchell of Southampton NJ, Joe Mento of Marlton NJ, Shannon Neal of Merchantville NJ, and her “daughter” cat, Alison.

Jessica was a 2004 graduate of Burlington County Special Services School District and loved attending school. She also attended the Joseph Kohn Rehabilitation Center for Visually Impaired in New Brunswick. She worked part time for several years at McDonald’s in Medford. Jess and her parents served the Feeding 5000 ministry by preparing and serving meals in Camden, NJ. Courtney Gardiner supported Jess in all areas of her life for fourteen years. She loved trips to the library, cooking, baking, and spending nights at Courtney’s home. Jessica and Courtney purchased and delivered food to the Shawnee Baptist food pantry and volunteered for ten years at their Vacation Bible School. Jess loved helping the little ones during Mom’s Morning Out program. Jess treasured the times Courtney would take her to her friend Joe’s, and they would make lunch together, go to movies, and talk about school memories. She was one of the early members of the SNOW (Special Needs Outreach and Witness) ministry and the Friendship class at Fellowship Alliance Chapel in Medford.

Jessica’s life was filled with many years of medical struggles, yet she had the ability to accept the situation and just continue to live her life. Jess loved being with her family. An afternoon of errands was a Mommy/Daughter adventure, and she’d talk for days of going to Seaside with Daddy. Jess was a bright light in the lives of many and showed us what is truly important in life.

Karen and John would like to express a special thank you for the years of care and love that Jess received from Dr. Trina Poretta and her staff, Dr. Nicholas Roy, and Scott Auty, PA. She loved them all and considered them her friends. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family requests memorial donations to Samaritan Hospice at www.SamaritanNJ.org/Donate or to Hampton Lakes Emergency Squad, PO Box 2009, Southampton, NJ 08088.  Relatives and friends are invited to her Memorial Visitation on Saturday, September 27th 2025, from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at the Fellowship Alliance Chapel,199  Church Road Medford, NJ., Jessica's Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11:00AM.
