JOHN C. GRIFFENBERG III, age 90, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Medford Leas in Medford, NJ. He was born in Riverside, NJ, and was the son of the late John C. Griffenberg Jr. and Evangeline (Stoops) Cicero.
He is the Beloved Husband of Nancy Jo (nee Stauffer) Griffenberg of Medford, NJ and is also survived by sister-in-law Patricia (nee Stauffer) Dabulewicz; nephew Robert Morrow (Beth) of Medford, NJ, niece Vivian Palmer (Mark) of Westmont, NJ; and three great-nephews, Griffin Morrow and Evan Morrow of Philadelphia, PA and Austin Palmer of Westmont, NJ.
John was predeceased by his sister, Vivian Morrow.
John graduated from Riverside High School, Class of 1950 and West Chester State Teacher’s College, Class of 1955. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1957. He was a long-time teacher, athletic director and football coach at Cherry Hill East High School. He was an assistant football coach at the University of Pennsylvania in the 1970’s. John was inducted into the South Jersey Football Coaches Hall of Fame in 2004.
John was a lifelong Mason and active in the Shriner’s organization. He loved fishing and golfing.
Relatives and friends may greet the family on Tuesday, January 16th from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the BRADLEY & STOW FUNERAL HOME, 127 Medford-Mt. Holly Road, Medford, NJ where a Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM. Inurnment will be private in the Parkview Cemetery @ Kirby’s Mill in Medford, NJ.
