John A. Lynch, Jr, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2023 at the age of 88.
Beloved husband of the late Barbara A. Loving father of Debby and Kevin Kernan, Karen and Scott Cunningham, Drew and Jennifer Lynch, devoted grandfather of 7, great grandfather of 2.
John A. Lynch, Jr. was born in Philadelphia, PA to Elizabeth (nee Helms) and John Lynch, Sr. He grew up in North Philadelphia where his parents owned a pharmacy at 8th and Diamond and was a very proud graduate of Penn and Germantown Academy. John was very involved in sports growing up and followed all Philadelphia sports and was a big A's fan. He also was very involved in Palmyra/Riverton athletic association and was always coaching or watching some type of sporting event that the three children were involved in. John enjoyed playing tennis with Barb as the long as the feet and legs held up, loved to sail at the Riverton yacht club and taking their annual trip down to the Chesapeake with the Riverton crew and Barbara before all of the kids activities took over, loved his pool, Brandy our yellow lab, vacationing every year in Long Beach Island, and taking the family skiing every winter even though he had no plans on getting on skis. He also loved reading and tinkering and playing games with the grandkids.
John truly loved the simple things life. “Pop Pop firetruck”. He was caring, smart, loving, steady and sweet, had a huge baritone voice, was the gentle giant, and always spoke gently and slowly. All of these traits helped him do what he really loved to do, teaching, mentoring and helping people grow.
After years at working at IBM he ran a consulting business for Sales and management training. He also taught at regional Penn State campuses over the years
John was a great conversationalist and could talk with anyone about almost any topic. He also really liked to help people with networking, helping their careers, or college and or athletic opportunities, and always willing to help anyone who would ask.
He loved raising the family in Riverton where Barb was born and raised. They moved to Medford Lakes to be closer to family, and they all loved swimming and participating in all that the Lakes had to offer, canoeing, swimming in the summers, ice skating and sledding in the winters.
Family always came first and he will be sadly missed by all.
A Celebration of John’s life will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023 at Christ Church 500 4th Street, Riverton, NJ 08077 at 11:30am.
