John Peter Panagotopulos, a devoted husband, father, brother, and uncle, passed away on March 5th, 2021 at the age of 57 after fighting Covid-19. John will never be forgotten, and his memory will be carried on by his wife of 21 years, Vangie (nee Rose); their three children: Gregory, Aaron, and Anne; his siblings: William, Marie, and Peter; and his nieces and nephews.
John spent the last year of his wonderful life doing everything he loved: building impressive LEGO sets, finishing huge puzzles, taking care of his 1967 Buick GS 400 and showing it off at car shows, collecting and playing board games, spending time with his family: showing them his favorite movies and crushing them in Jeopardy. Most importantly, he was a supportive and loving husband and father, as well as a devoted friend.
John spent six years in the US Navy, leaving in 1991, serving on the USS Hammerhead nuclear submarine. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Drexel University in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. He spent 29 years at PSEG Hope Creek Generating Station, achieving a Senior Reactor Operator License and an outstanding reputation.
