John J. Taus passed away peacefully on November 5, 2023 at the age of 69. He was born in Englewood, NJ to Anna (nee Weiss) and John Taus.
Having been an outstanding athlete throughout his youth for baseball & basketball, John enjoyed watching NBA basketball games (his favorite player was Larry Bird), and he was a huge fan of the NY Yankees & NY Mets. He enjoyed eating at the many diners in the area, getting together with family members for all occasions, trips to the Jersey Shore and many train rides to NYC and Atlantic City. In his spare time, one of his favorite activities was watching re-runs of the famous TV show from the 1950s, The Honeymooners, starring Jackie Gleason & Ed Norton.

In the evenings, he attended night classes for the trade, studied and passed the state exam on his very first attempt, earning his NJ plumbing license. He established his own business for many years in Fort Lee, NJ, specializing in hot-water baseboard heating systems and bathroom renovations, while also serving as a volunteer fireman for Engine Company #1 in Fort Lee, following in the community service commitments of his father, uncles and grandfather.
Years later, John earned his commercial driver’s license and drove “18 wheelers” for 11 years transporting frozen food products throughout the U.S. for J&J Snack Foods, which is headquartered in Pennsauken, NJ. He received numerous safety awards for logging thousands of accident-free miles while driving for J&J Snack Foods.
