John J. Taus passed away peacefully on November 5, 2023 at the age of 69. He was born in Englewood, NJ to Anna (nee Weiss) and John Taus.
Having been an outstanding athlete throughout his youth for baseball & basketball, John enjoyed watching NBA basketball games (his favorite player was Larry Bird), and he was a huge fan of the NY Yankees & NY Mets. He enjoyed eating at the many diners in the area, getting together with family members for all occasions, trips to the Jersey Shore and many train rides to NYC and Atlantic City. In his spare time, one of his favorite activities was watching re-runs of the famous TV show from the 1950s, The Honeymooners, starring Jackie Gleason & Ed Norton.
John learned the plumbing trade as an apprentice in NYC, often being assigned to assist in the extensive bathroom renovations of famous wealthy clients such as Jackie Onassis & Bert Lahr. In the evenings, he attended night classes for the trade, studied and passed the state exam on his very first attempt, earning his NJ plumbing license. He established his own business for many years in Fort Lee, NJ, specializing in hot-water baseboard heating systems and bathroom renovations, while also serving as a volunteer fireman for Engine Company #1 in Fort Lee, following in the community service commitments of his father, uncles and grandfather.
Years later, John earned his commercial driver’s license and drove “18 wheelers” for 11 years transporting frozen food products throughout the U.S. for J&J Snack Foods, which is headquartered in Pennsauken, NJ. He received numerous safety awards for logging thousands of accident-free miles while driving for J&J Snack Foods.
John is the beloved brother of Diane (nee Taus) Nadola, brother-in-law Benjamin Nadola, uncle of Brandon Nadola (& Loretta Boyle), Caroline Nadola, Sandra (nee Nadola) Kreitz, (& her spouse Keith Kreitz) and Matthew Nadola, and great nephews Kurt Kreitz & Clint Kreitz, and great niece Katherine Kreitz. He is the beloved close relative of many first cousins. And, he is beloved by his very close friends, Tony & Jayne Martini.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation & celebration of life on Friday, December 8, 2023 from 11am – 12:30pm in the Bradley & Stow Funeral Home, 127 Medford-Mt. Holly Road, Medford, NJ 08055. A funeral service will begin at 12:30pm.
