Kevin Woolcock Obituary

Kevin Erin Woolcock of Browns Mills, NJ, born February 7, 1981, passed away suddenly on Friday, June 21, 2024, from complications of his most recent diagnosis. He was 43 years of age. Born in Trenton, he grew up in Southampton, graduating from Lenape High School and Atlantic County Culinary Institute.

Kevin came into his parents’ home at the age of 7 weeks old. It was the day they had dreamed of. As an infant, he was already showing signs of being a very active and lovable young boy, and that he was! In Kevin’s early years, it was already evident that he had a creative side. Imagination and ability to create were part of his daily play. His drawings were quite good and he would easily assemble complicated structures.

Kevin’s first talent for the arts was evident when he took trumpet lessons and was part of the Southampton School Band. At Lenape High School, he immediately joined the marching band as a freshman. This experience gave him a huge circle of wonderful friends. His family will always be grateful to his friends for embracing Kevin as he was. At “bandie” birthday parties, a few friends recognized his voice and encouraged him to try out for concert choir in his senior year. He often said he regretted not doing this sooner – he had a beautiful baritone voice. His 4 years as a band member were the best ever!

After college, Kevin worked at Braddocks Tavern for 6 years and then moved on to healthcare facilities, most recently, Brookdale Senior Living. He loved the positive feedback on his culinary creations from the residents and enjoyed occasional conversations with them. Cooking was one of many of his creative gifts that he loved to share and he was always that person you could rely on in the workplace.

Upon finding direction in his career, Kevin was ready for that special someone to spend the rest of his life with. Kevin met his wife of 11 years, Kimberly Aten Woolcock, who brought him endless happiness. They truly were so perfect together. Watching the way they looked at each other was testimony to the love they shared. Kevin and Kim did everything as a couple and experienced so many wonderful adventures together. There was no greater love.

Kevin enjoyed coin collecting, knives, video gaming, cooking, abstract painting, history and music. Most of all he loved nature. As a toddler, his Dad taught him how to fish and for a guy who had to keep moving, he could sit behind a fishing pole forever. It never mattered if he caught anything, he just embraced the peace. He would fish at the lake while Kim would often read a book on the shore. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Kevin recognized what a polite, kind, smart, grateful, gentle and compassionate person he was. We really need more humans like Kevin in this world.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Kimberly Woolcock; his mother, Linda Woolcock; his sister, Lindsay King, (Jeffrey) and his niece, Olivia King. Also survived by his aunt, Barbara DiBartolo; (Anthony); cousin, Megan LaFalce (Michael); uncle, Ronald Woolcock (Carol) and cousin, Kimberly Woolcock.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Kevin’s Life on Thursday, July 18th at 3PM, Evergreen Dairy Bar, 1634 Route 70, Southampton, NJ. Anyone is welcome to share a story or remembrance of Kevin. Late lunch/early dinner will also be served.

In lieu of flowers, kindly donate to the organization that was there for his family, National Alliance on Mental Illness: NAMI – Burlington, 16 East Main Street, Suite 5, Moorestown, NJ 08057. Donations may be mailed directly, or placed inside an envelope with your name & address at the Celebration of Life.

Kevin wanted to make a difference, as stated in his courageous one & only YouTube video from a year ago – search... Kevin Woolcock. Watching this and spreading the word to break the stigma of mental illness will be a great tribute to Kevin by remembering to always separate the person from the illness. Kevin was a gentle soul.
