Lino F. “Lee” Pereira peacefully passed away on May 3, 2026, at the age of 79. For the past four years, he had been a resident of the Masonic Home in Burlington, New Jersey. He was born on January 17, 1947, in Newark, New Jersey, to Evaristo and Diva Pereira, and was raised in Irvington along side his sisters, Cecelia (deceased) and Diva.
Lee married his high school sweetheart, Linda Sachse, whom he had known since the age of ten. They would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on June 1st. He is survived by his beloved wife Linda; his daughters, Sandie Martino (Ed), Stacie Canavan, and Laurie McDonald (Brent); and his six cherished grandchildren, Hailee and Connor Martino, Leigh and Nolan Canavan, and Brody and Brynn McDonald. He is also survived by his sister Diva, along with nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Rutgers University, Lee began his career with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection during its formative years. Over the course of fifteen years, he rose to the position of Director. Following time in the private sector working in finance, he returned to public service as Acting Director of Motor Vehicles, where he implemented numerous programs to improve efficiency. He often remarked that Motor Vehicles was the one department most citizens interacted with, and he believed it should serve them well.
Lee was immensely proud of his daughters and grandchildren, who brought him his greatest joy. He treasured the time spent with family, especially camping trips with his daughters through YMCA programs such as Indian Princesses and Trailmates. Through these experiences, he formed lasting friendships with fellow fathers, enjoying years of golf outings and card games.
In accordance with Lee’s wishes, no formal service will be held. A private celebration of his life will take place at a later date. Friends and loved ones are encouraged to honor his memory by sharing stories or celebrating his life in their own way.
Arrangements under the direction of the Bradley & Stow Funeral Home, 127 Medford-Mt. Holly Road, Medford, NJ 08055.
