Marna D’Ippolito, nee Smith; predeceased by her adoring husband Al, passed onto her Lord on April 25, 2025. Marna was born on October 7, 1940 to Lyle and Alice Smith of Tabernacle, New Jersey. Mother of Maureen McConaughy (Tim), Kathleen Mason (Tom) and Susan Lovett (Mike), and two stepdaughters, Brenda D’Ippolito and Deborah D’Ippolito. Our beloved matriarch leaves behind 8 grandchildren; Tommy (Crissy), Michael, Lizzie (George), Erin, Mikey (Erica), Kelly, Ben and Julia and 2 great grandchildren; Thomas and Anna. In addition, our mother received the love and support of her 2 caregivers, Lu and Lisa, who made it possible for Marna to remain secure in her home, well cared for and loved.
Marna was a force in and of the world: passionate, kind, and giving. Fiercely protective of her “Girls” and commanding of respect from those she met. A single mom at a time when that was not common, she maintained a ferocity to be both mother, father, and provider. She was active at her church, FAC, in Medford and made lifelong friends at bible study.
Marna’s professional career was eclectic. She was a woman of so many talents. She started working at the Ionac Chemical Company in the early 70s and stayed for several years while working to complete her associate degree in night school. During that time she learned keypunch and other highly technical computer skills on campus. She worked in Center City, Philadelphia, at Armstrong Graphics and from there moved into print sales for many, many years. She found her dream job working for Ethan Allen as an interior decorator; which combined her love of art, her prowess in sales and her incredible people skills.
The penultimate experience of her life (after having her daughters, of course!) was when Marna met Albert D’Ippolito; Dip, Pop-Pop, Pops. They met at the most common of meeting places, the bar, on a girls weekend in Somers Point. It was literally love at first sight. He was a wonderful husband and the father we would have chosen, if we did in fact get to choose.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Wednesday, April 30th from 10:00 to 12:00PM at the Bradley & Stow Funeral home, 127 Medford-Mt. Holly Road, Medford, NJ 08055. Funeral Service to Follow at 12:00PM.
Interment will follow at Park View Cemetery @ Kirby's Mill, 25 Fostertown Road, Medford, NJ.
