Mary Theresa Barboun (née Sullivan) of Medford, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 19th, 2023. She was 93 years of age.

Born in NYC, NY, she is the daughter of the late Edmond J. and Mary A. Sullivan, both Irish immigrants and proud American citizens.

Mary is predeceased by her beloved husband of 69 years, Stephen Athan Barboun, daughters Dawn Armenti and Lisa Barboun, as well as her son-in-law Dr. Vincent Armenti and only sister, Eileen O’Neill.

Mary worked as a bookkeeper for Manufacturer’s Trust in NYC and as an aide in numerous Kindergarten classrooms in the Medford Township schools; a job she thoroughly enjoyed.

She is the beloved mother of Judy Barboun DiStefano and her husband Bruno of Medford Lakes NJ, Tom Barboun and his wife MaryEllen of Lincoln University, PA, and Elaine Bottino and her husband Jim of Atco NJ.

She is also survived by her 9 Grandchildren, Stephen, Sean, Kathleen, Marissa, Patrick, Tara, Christopher, Jamie and Michael, and her 6 Great Grandchildren, Olivia, Nora, Stephen, Emma, Leila and Nina. Mary is also survived by her niece Tara Walsh and nephew Kerry O’Neill.

Family was of paramount importance to Mary. She was fiercely devoted to her family and continually self sacrificed to assure they were well taken care of and happy. She had all the time in the world for a mug of tea and a parental ear. Mary took great pride in her grandchildren and tried hard to teach them in preparation for success in life.

Mary had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel special. Mary was a dedicated ‘dog mom’ and also enjoyed feeding the wild birds that would visit her yard. 

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Wednesday, April 26th from 10:30 – 11:30 AM at the BRADLEY & STOW FUNERAL HOME, 127 Medford-Mt. Holly Road, Medford, NJ, where a Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow in the Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson, NJ.
