Maureen Abrahims Obituary

MAUREEN P. ABRAHIMS (nee McVicar) of Leisuretowne Village in Southampton New Jersey, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024, at the age of 82.  Maureen is survived by her beloved husband Earl R. Abrahims.  Born in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Edna (nee Shaw) McVicar.

After 35 years of service, Maureen retired from the New Lisbon Developmental Center in 2014. Her career began in housing where she kindly cared for the residents who lived there. Shortly after beginning her career, Maureen worked her way up to Administrative Assistant, where she excelled.  During her retirement years, Maureen and Earl went on a cruise to the Bahamas and enjoyed visiting local areas together in Lancaster PA.  They were able to spend more time with their many treasured grandchildren.  Maureen had a special affection for animals and cared for many dogs in her lifetime. 

Maureen is survived by her four children who will miss her dearly. Wendy A. Handel and her husband Ray of South Dakota, Kim Abrahims (Michael Yacono) of Browns Mills, NJ, Michael Abrahims of Barnegat, NJ and William E. “Bebe” Abrahims and his wife Christine of Williamstown, NJ.  She is also survived by her grandchildren David Abrahims, Tyler Yacono, Stephanie Abrahims, Allison Ottolenghi, Gwyneth Handel, Alexis Yacono, Cameron Abrahims, Justin Abrahims and Jessica Abrahims and her Great Granddaughter Brooklyn Bluester.  She is the grandmother of the late Samantha Yacono, the late Joshua Handel and the late Great Grandson Benny Boy.  

Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Wednesday, September 25th from 6:00-7:00 PM at the BRADLEY & STOW FUNERAL HOME, 127 Medford-Mt. Holly Road, Medford, NJ, where a Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 PM.  Interment will be private in the Cross Key’s Methodist Church Cemetery in Williamstown, NJ.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Saint Jude or your local SPCA in honor of Maureen and her devotion for all things innocent.
