Maximo Diego Obituary

Maximo Diego (“Max”) of Medford, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at the age of seventy-seven (77) on September 24, 2022, surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home. Max was born in Havana, Cuba and immigrated to the United States in 1961, settling originally in Hialeah, Florida. He was the son of the late Leida (nee Garcia) and Maximo Diego of Hialeah, Florida.

Max was a loving and devoted husband to Aleida (“Lily”) (nee Perdomo) for fifty-seven (57) years. They raised their family in Hainesport, New Jersey before retiring to Key Largo, Florida. They spent many happy years there and were visited by family and friends. Max and Lily had recently moved back to New Jersey to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Max spent his life working hard to provide for his family and enjoyed the beach, fishing, visiting casinos, watching movies, playing dominoes, and growing tropical plants and fruits-including his famous mangoes and sugarcane! He was a generous and giving person who shall be fondly and respectfully remembered in the hearts of his family and friends.

Family was all important to Max and he is survived by his: beloved wife Lily Diego; loving daughter Caridad Diego; loving son Maximo Diego III; loving daughter-in-law Elisa Diego (nee Catania); loving sister Carmen Hevia (nee Diego); and adoring grandchildren Lauren Hopkins, Gloria Hopkins, Alexander Diego, Ava Diego, and Abigail Diego. His tireless love and devotion to his family shall live on in our hearts always. He will be sorely missed, including his great sense of humor.

Max shall be forever loved and remembered. There will be a private mass said in his honor. No other services will take place, as per Max’s request, but we do appreciate your love and support during this difficult time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Max’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Bradley & Stow Funeral Home, 127 Medford-Mt. Holly Road, Medford, New Jersey 08055.  (www.BradleyStow.com)
