Morwenna Patricia Eby (née Owen), 88, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday August 30, 2023.
Born in Wolverhampton, England on April 27, 1935, the only daughter of Ruby Beatrice (née Carey) and Leonard Owen, she emigrated to the U.S. in 1953 and became a U.S. citizen in 1960. She and her husband, James A. Eby, shared 57 happy years together before he passed away in 2013. Together they raised and are survived by two children – Robert Eby of Holmdel, NJ, and Carol Smith (Barry) of Antrim, NH. She was a graduate of Tiffin Girls’ School in Kingston-on-Thames, England, and later worked as a nanny and a bank clerk as well as at Educational Testing Services in Princeton, NJ, before marrying and raising her family. She was able to express her creativity thru her interests in needlework, knitting, sewing, gardening and cooking. For many years, Morwenna was also an active member of the Daughters of the British Empire (DBE), and helped to organize many events with her local chapter.
A gathering of remembrance, honoring the lives of both Morwenna and James, will be held on Friday September 8 in the theater on the campus of Medford Leas in Medford, NJ. During her lifetime Morwenna supported various charities, any of which would be honored to accept donations in her memory: • Doctors without Borders • Food Bank of South Jersey • Habitat for Humanity • Nature Conservancy • Planned Parenthood
