Nancy Ebersole Obituary

NANCY CAROLYN EBERSOLE (nee Goodman), went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 26th, 2024 at her home in Shamong, NJ, surrounded by her loving family. She was 86 years of age.  Born in Indiana on October 2nd, 1937, Nancy was the daughter of the late Chauncey W. and Mildred Lillian (nee Bybee) Goodman.

Nancy married Harry Goehring in 1957. They were blessed with three children. They served as missionaries for several years in Bangladesh, where Harry died in 1965. Just 27, Nancy returned with her three little ones to the farm where she grew up in Indiana. With her mother’s support, she finished her college degree in elementary education.

In 1969 Nancy married Russell Ebersole, Jr., a widower with five children who had served as a missionary in the Philippine Islands. A year later the family moved to Manila, where Russ helped to oversee mission work throughout Southeast Asia. In 1977 they moved back to the US and settled in Shamong, their home and the family hub for almost fifty years. They loved and were loved by their church family next door, Shawnee Baptist Church. Russ and Nancy continued to encourage missionaries throughout Southeast Asia, often traveling in that capacity. Nancy prepared countless meals for the steady stream of loved ones whom she welcomed into her home.

Russ and Nancy enjoyed fifty-three very full years of marriage. Psalm 34:3 is inscribed in their wedding rings: “Oh, magnify the Lord with me; let us exalt His name together!” By God’s grace, they realized this desire through thick and thin.

Nancy is the devoted mother of eight children and their spouses, sixty-six grandchildren, and fifty-six (and counting!) great-grandchildren. She is deeply loved and esteemed by them all, and will be dearly missed and well-remembered. They all “rise up and call her blessed” (Proverbs 31:28).

A Memorial Service will take place at Shawnee Baptist Church at 303 Oak Shade Road in Shamong, NJ, at 12:30 in the afternoon on Monday, May 20th. All are welcome to join the family for the luncheon that will follow the service at the church. The interment will take place before the memorial service at 10 AM at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
