Nicholas F. Forte passed away peacefully on June 30, 2023 at the age of 89. He was born in Newark, NJ to Rose (nee Rullis) and Frank Forte.
Nicholas attended Franklin Grammar School where he helped organize their 5th grade band. During his time in Union High School, he conducted his own band and played for school dances and functions where he coordinated a dance with proceeds contributed to the town cancer fund. He graduated in 1952, receiving the music award from Union High School in Union N.J. He then decided to audition and attend the Newark School of Fine Arts in Newark, NJ.
In 1953 he enlisted in the Navy attending the Navy School of Music as a Navy Musician, stationed in Bainbridge MD. Upon his 21st birthday, he was shipped to Guam where he served 2 of his 4 year enlistment, receiving an award for his work from his commanding officer. He then returned to Bainbridge where he served the remaining 2 years of his enlistment.
Once discharged, he entered the Manhattan College in New York where he received both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Before entering the Willingboro School system, he taught instrumental music in Abraham Clark High School.
Nicholas is the beloved husband of Mary (nee Mason), loving father, doting grandfather, dear brother, doting uncle, and is a dear friend to many.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023 from 2PM-4PM in the Bradley & Stow Funeral Home 127 Medford-Mt. Holly Road, Medford, NJ 08055. A Funeral Service will be held at 4PM. A committal service will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
