With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Noni Beth Bookbinder Bell. She was 66 years old and peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 25th, 2025, in her home in Medford, New Jersey, with her family by her side.
Noni was born in Montgomery, PA on October 3rd, 1958, to Diantha and Sam Bookbinder. She grew up in Manhattan, New York before moving to New Jersey at 15, where she met her future husband, Bill Bell, who would be married for nearly 50 years. Noni graduated from Rutgers University, Magna Cum Laude.
Aside from being a successful business owner alongside her husband Bill, Noni was a fierce social justice warrior and an unapologetic voice for those who would otherwise be left unheard. She channeled this into her investigative journalism career. As an independent freelancer, she was published in Reuters, Courier Post, Burlington Country Time, Central Record, and more under the byline "Noni Bookbinder Bell." A rabble-rouser, Noni found passion in standing up for what was right.
Beyond her professional life, Noni was an avid reader and Stephen King fan, taking great pride in her book collection. Noni was a writer and published poet. A lover of art and music, horses, and puzzles. She took great pride in her role on the Shamong Township Zoning Board. Her kindness was infectious and she would often be found mentoring her friend Nina, or others, through school or a life challenge. Noni was selfless and steadfast. Loyal and compassionate.
Noni is survived by her dear husband, best friend Bill Bell, and her children Jaime and Jason Earle Sr., Billy & Jami Bell, grandchildren Kaelynn, Jazlyne, and Jason Jr., Jackson, and Lucy Noni Bell, and great-granddaughter Amethyst Rue. Her parents, Diantha Morgan Bookbinder and Sam Bookbinder preceded her in death, as well as her siblings, Dorian and Freddy.
Noni's family will celebrate her life privately. In place of flowers, we would like to ask you to perform a random act of kindness for someone in need in her memory.
"So jump silly fool as if on trampoline
Dance the day away like you have never seen ...
or maybe you’ve just closed your eyes
Squeeze them tight!
For summer’s always been but shadows
passing in the night..."
