Peggy R. Landis (nee Anderson), age 88, of Tabernacle, and recently Medford Lakes, NJ passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. She was born in York, PA to Gladys (nee Myers) and Roy Anderson, the youngest of three daughters, and she lived in York for most of her life.
Peggy is the beloved wife of the late Kenneth B. Landis who predeceased her August 23, 2018, and of Lloyd W Heiges, Jr, who predeceased her May 19, 1997. She is dearly missed by her children, Connie Heiges of Delta, PA, Don (and Deb) Heiges of Charlotte, NC, Lisa (and Sam) Mountain of Marlton, NJ, Dan (and Sue) Heiges of Lititz, PA, and Nancy (and Joe) Carnuccio of Medford Lakes, NJ. Peggy was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren, with her 10th on the way. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Peggy grew up having a love of dogs, having had many as pets over the course of her life, and she also was an avid reader. She loved to sing, and encouraged her husband, Lloyd, to share the original songs he wrote with churches and hymn sings, and helped him organize the Lloyd Heiges Family Gospel Singers, and with their three youngest children, they traveled and sang in York County, PA and the surrounding areas from 1972-1982. Peggy sang on her church choir and later in the group, “The Stepping Tones”; a senior choir based in York, PA. Peggy loved Jesus, her church, old southern gospel music, ice cream, and spending time with her many grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at Wiley Church, 101 East Main Street, Marlton, NJ 08053 at 9:30 am. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am.
Interment will take place in Prospect Hill Cemetery 700 N George St, York, PA 17404 on her birthday, October 8, 2024 at 12:00 pm.
