Phyllis Orta passed away on April 9, 2022, at the age of 91. Born in the East Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY to Isidore Berger and Eva Berger (Grossman), Phyllis had fond memories of growing up in an apartment above her father’s grocery store. She married Louis Orta in 1960, with whom she raised their son, Andrew, in Queens. Prior to her marriage, Phyllis worked for Revlon at their corporate headquarters in Manhattan, and she returned to a career at Revlon after a few years away, retiring in 1992. In 2007, Phyllis moved to Medford Leas, NJ, where she wrote a new chapter of her life with many new friends.
Phyllis enjoyed trips to the ocean -- particularly summers at the southern Maine coast with her husband Lou, who passed away in 1996, and visits with her sister Helen on Cape Cod. She was an avid walker, making the rounds daily at Medford Leas. She was a proud mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her beloved grandchildren, Natalie and Erik, her son Andrew, and her daughter-in-law Ingrid Melief. Her family invite you to remember her by taking a walk and saying “hello” to someone along the way.
