Rickard Johnston Powell

Rickard “Rick” Johnston Powell of Marlton, NJ went home to his Savior on Monday, May 27th, 2024. He died doing what he loved best – helping his daughter and son-in-law on a house project. Born on January 4, 1959 in Bulter, PA to Dale Claude Crummy Powell and Shirley Ann Johnston Powell.

 

Rick led a life of service to God, his country, and his family and friends. Rick proudly served in the Army from 1979 to 1982. He was a devoted member of Fellowship Alliance Chapel, frequently found helping with the middle school youth group and serving as an usher. A jack-of-all-trades, Rick helped his church and countless friends and family with construction or home improvement projects. He enjoyed numerous hobbies including camping, kayaking, skiing, and golfing, and perhaps most of all cheering on his beloved Philadelphia sports teams.

 

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Dale Powell, and his mother, Shirley Powell. He is survived by his son, Ryan Powell (Jodi), his daughter Kelsey Swift (Zach), and his grandchildren, Macy Powell, Jesse Powell, Everly Swift, and Lyla Swift. He is also survived by his three sisters, Sandi Roberts-Flores, Wendy Kutz, and Cindy Murphy, along with a niece and numerous nephews.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, where Rick had planned to volunteer after he retired.

 

A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 3 at 10 AM at Fellowship Alliance Chapel (199 Church Road, Medford, NJ 08055) in the Old Sanctuary. Light refreshments will be served after the service. In true Rick Powell fashion, please stay and linger after the service. A sweet memory of Rick is how much he loved to stay and connect with people after events – many times being the last to leave.  (www.BradleyStow.com)
