Robert Hanold Sr. Obituary

ROBERT D. HANOLD SR. passed away peacefully early this morning.  He would have been 77 in February.  He battled a rare neuroendocrine cancer for the past 4 years.  He was orphaned at 4 years old and attended Girard College in Philadelphia.  Later owned his own service station as a young adult in the 1960's where the Cherry Hill Mall stands today.  Later in life he built a successful family business and always strove to help the less fortunate and through his example raised his family to do the same.  He sat on and help develop the original Medford Lakes Planning Board many years ago and after retiring, he continued to help the Community by successfully running for Medford Lakes Borough Council in 2010.  This past year, he served as the current Mayor of Medford Lakes until his passing.  He was a true Laker.  Those Lions that knew him will tell you there won't be another like him.  He never held back on his opinion on how our Lions Club should operate, help the needy and continue on with it's legacy.  He joined the Medford Lakes Lion’s Club 45 years ago, in May 1976.  He served on every committee and Board position with the exception of Treasurer and Secretary.  He was King Lion in 1985-86, Zone Chairman and Deputy District Governor.  He founded the Lion’s Food Wagon and ran many of its events and also founded the Lion’s Palm Sunday Breakfast fundraiser and was recently awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship.  In 2000, he was made a Life Member of the club by the Board of Directors and remained extremely active even in his final days with support and funding toward the Lions Lodge that bears his name.  He was also a Master Mason with Lodge 178 F&AM in Medford, NJ.  He was extremely proud to have completed the “Great Loop” in his boat in 2006.  This was a 6,600 mile voyage around the eastern portion of the United States.  He is the Beloved Husband of Nanrae (nee Dodds) Hanold of Medford Lakes, NJ and the Loving Father of Lisa R. Maginnis and her husband Curtis of Shamong, NJ and Robb Hanold Jr. and his wife Donna of Medford, NJ.  He is also survived by his sister Catherine August and her husband Edward of Walpole, NH and his Grandchildren Melissa Maginnis of Shamong, NJ, Rob Hanold of Prospect Park, PA and Natasha Hanold of Medford, NJ.    Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family on Sunday, May 16th, 2021 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM at the BRADLEY & STOW FUNERAL HOME, 127 Medford-Mt. Holly Road, Medford, NJ, where a Memorial Service will begin at 3:00 PM with a Masonic Service.  Services may be viewed virtually at the following link: http://webcast.funeralvue.com/events/viewer/52123.  In lieu of other expressions of sympathy the family requests memorial donations to the Medford Lakes Lions Building Fund, PO Box 2105, Medford Lakes, NJ  08055.   (www.BradleyStow.com)
