Robert Preim Jr. Obituary

Surrounded by his family, Robert Stickley Preim Jr. of Shamong, NJ, passed away in his home on February 8, 2025 with his wife, Linda, by his side, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.  He leaves behind a legacy that points beyond this world to the eternal reality he now inhabits.

Robert was born in Long Branch, NJ on September 3, 1946 to Robert Stickley Preim and Ursel (Higgins) Preim. He graduated from Toms River High School in 1964 and attended Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ to study vocal music.

In 1969, Bob met the love of his life, Linda Ann Loversidge. They were married in 1970 and spent 55 years loving each other and enjoying the family that they built together.

Bob had a long and successful, fifty-plus-year career in the music industry representing manufacturers and distributors of the world’s greatest pianos. He was well-known and respected up and down the east coast for his warmth and friendly nature as well as his integrity and knowledge about music.

As a child, Bobby loved to sing and was often called upon to use his talents.  His involvement with music grew as he did, and he enjoyed singing and playing the guitar in school and later with folk singing groups in the sixties, and in trios and quartets through the seventies, eighties, and nineties.  One of his greatest joys was to lead the congregation in worship at his church, Fellowship Alliance Chapel, and he is lovingly remembered by hundreds for this role.

Family was everything to Bob and his hobbies were always things he could share with those he loved. Bob loved vacations - planning them and sharing them with his wife and with his family. He also loved the outdoors and could often be found fishing, boating, or exploring with his brother, children, and grandchildren.  He enjoyed days at the beach, on the lake, or by the pool and always wanted everyone to enjoy those days all together. He enjoyed cooking and loved to plan special gatherings for his family and friends.

A devoted Gappy, Robert loved spending as much time as possible with his 6 grandchildren and his great-granddaughter.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, and by his brother, Barry Preim.

He is survived by wife, Linda Preim; children: Melissa (Ryan) King, Rebecca (Dave) Jobes, and Robert (Meghan) Preim; grandchildren: Emma (Ben) Harris, Lila King, Davis Jobes, Cecilia, Hudson, and Hendrix Preim; and great-granddaughter: Blakely Harris.

Bob was a man of deep faith in God.  His relationship with Jesus shaped the way he lived his life, led his family, and influenced others. We are comforted knowing he is now worshipping the Lord forever.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 15, at Fellowship Alliance Chapel in Medford NJ at 12:00.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Samaritan Hospice or American Parkinson Disease Association.
