Robert "Bob" Waller Obituary

Robert John Waller, 75, of Tabernacle, NJ, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2023. Robert, fondly known as Bob, was born to Catherine (nee Witts) and Howard “Noonie” Waller in Mt Holly, NJ.

Bob proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy and served a tour in Vietnam. Upon returning to the States, he left the armed forces to pursue his other passions, but public service was always his calling and he settled in Thorsby, Alabama (Roll Tide) to work as a police officer. After 10 years in Thorsby, Bob returned home to Tabernacle, NJ, and began a career at Wharton State Forest, a job he held for 23 years until his retirement in 2008.

It's an understatement to say that Bob had many passions in life. He had a love for Doo Wop & Motown music, which was evident by his impressive record collection. (In fact, we're pretty sure his love of romantic music was probably the reason he married four times.) Many nights Bob could be found spinning records at Villa D and entertaining generations of Tabernacle residents just looking to have fun and enjoy some music. Bob never failed them.

Bob also loved restoring classic cars in his spare time. One of his favorite pastimes was driving his truck around town, stopping often to chat with his buddies and checking in on his neighbors, who playfully nicknamed him the “neighborhood watch.” Finally, Bob had an infectious sense of humor. He enjoyed jokes almost as much as his music and he loved hearing them as well as "trying" to tell them. In fact, those who knew Bob well might say the best part of his humor wasn’t the jokes themselves but how hard he laughed trying to get the punchline out! His playful nature will be missed dearly.

Bob leaves behind his beloved son, Robert, Jr. (Marie), his stepdaughter Bobbi Jo Cassel and his grandpups Rosie & Sugaree. He is predeceased by his parents and his two sisters, Catherine (Cass) Roberts and Nancy Waller.

A graveside gathering will be held at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ  08562 on Friday, March 3, 2023 at 1:30PM.

Like most people, Dad was not a fan of viewings, funerals, or interments. If you are someone who shares his aversion, please do not feel obligated to attend his memorial. Trust us, he will not be offended.

In lieu of flowers or donations, we ask that you honor Bob’s memory by trying to make someone laugh today. Just try to get the punchline out better than he could.
