ROSE ALICE M. HOERST of Southampton, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 17th, 2023. She was 76 years of age. Born in Philadelphia, PA she is the daughter of the late Margaret (nee Kelly) and William Hoerst.
Born in Philadelphia, Rose Alice was a proud graduate of Hallahan High School for Girls. After then graduating from Temple University, she began a long career in journalism. Her many years editing at the Courier Post produced a lifetime of friendships. Whenever she could, she would go to Long Beach Island to the house her father had retired to. She would bring her beloved dogs Murphy and Herbie, and then later, her cats. On retirement, she moved to Leisuretowne, and joined a wonderful community of neighbors. Rose Alice loved musicals, mysteries and science fiction, but not the dystopian hellscape of 2020s politics. Above all, she loved her family, especially her nieces and later their rambunctious children.
She is the beloved sister of Bill (deceased), Margaret, and Mark (Eileen), loving aunt of Lauren (Kevin) Patterson, and Stephanie Hoerst, dear great aunt of Liam, Lucy, David and Joseph and many friends.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2023 from 2PM-3PM in the BRADLEY & STOW FUNERAL HOME, 127 Medford-Mt. Holly Rd., Medford, NJ 08055. A Celebration of her life will be held at 3PM.
