Stanley Freidel Obituary

Stanley Robert “Bob” Freidel passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2025, after a short but fierce battle with brain cancer, which had returned after being in remission for six years. Bob was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Carol A. Freidel. He is survived by his stepchildren, Michael Brodecki (Danielle) and Michele Brodcecki, and his grandchildren, Michael, Katie, and Sophia, as well as his siblings, Michael Freidel (Bianca), Jim Freidel (Kim), Donna Freidel (Tal Kramer ), and Diane Freidel (David Levin), in addition to many loving nieces and nephews.

Bob was grew up in South Jersey and lived there until he retired to Florida in 2024. A graduate of Rider University and Delaware Law School, Bob practiced law for many years, with his wife Carol working alongside him as his office manager. Specializing in employment discrimination and family law, Bob was a strong advocate for his clients. Bob was dedicated to community service and was a member of the Lions for over thirty years. Bob served the Lions of New Jersey in many roles since joining the service organization over thirty years ago, including as Council Chair for the Lions of New Jersey in 2022-2023. As president of the Turnersville-Washington Township Lions and of the Deptford Lions, Bob led his clubs to sponsor many service projects, including very successful balloon festivals and hunger relief projects. Upon his transfer to the Medford Lakes Lions, he took great joy in helping with their many projects, including their food pantry, holiday meals and gifts for needy families. Bob also instituted the Strides Walk for Type 1 Diabetes at the State Convention in 2016, which has continued for ten years, raising tens of thousands for JDRF (now Breakthrough T1D). He also arranged for vision screening in Atlantic City schools as a service project.

Among many honors, he received the District Governor Excellence Award in 2017 and the Lions International Presidential Award in 2015-2016 and 2020-2021. He was a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow. Upon his move to Florida, Bob worked with the Clearwater Lions and became a valued associate member. Bob enjoyed playing many sports, including basketball, baseball, and golf. He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan. Just this past spring, he took great joy in participating in fantasy training camp in Clearwater, and even worked for a short time for the Phillies organization at their stadium in Clearwater.

Bob and Carol loved traveling and had wonderful times together visiting new places— though the best were those with beaches! Bob loved classic rock and spent many hours enjoying live performances. He also cherished spending time with family and could be counted on to be there for his grandchildren’s important milestones, as well as those of his many nieces and nephews.

Bob will be remembered for the difference he made in people’s lives and will live on as a shining example of serving others.
