WALTER S. DOW, JR. passed on Sunday, May 15, 2022 at the age of 94. Walter was born 1928, in Waterville, ME to Lillian (nee Condon) and Walter, Sr.
Walter was a loving and caring father and his work as a Chemical Engineer at Rohm and Haas had him recruiting nationwide. He was a dedicated volunteer at St. Vincent De Paul in Medford, coordinating their food pantry for over 20 years. He served as the volunteer Mayor of Westampton, New Jersey. Walter was an avid Bridge Player, and loving music, was known to play the harmonica on family road trips. He loved animals and talked about owning a pet seal when growing up in Maine. A self-taught craftsman, he caned many a chair seat and restored family antiques. Walter served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. at the age of 18, and was deployed to China for war reparation services. He was assigned a recon truck that he affectionately called ‘Betsy’ after his childhood sweetheart who would become his future wife.
Walter is beloved husband of Patricia (nee Tobias), and the late Mary ‘Betsy’ (nee Norton), loving father of Nancy (Jack) Carman, and Walter (June) Dow, III, adoring grandfather of Beth (Robert) Kidd, Jesse (Danielle) Pomper, Scotty Dow, Josh Dow and Sean Dow and great grandfather of Catherine Kidd, Robby Kidd, Johnny Kidd and Adam Kidd; devoted uncle of Betsy Currie, Martha Lawler, Becky Williamson, Sarah Punsky, Jody DeRaps, Rachel Flowers, Mary Boucher, Mary Norton, Kristen Norton and Pete Norton.
Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service to be held at 11AM on Saturday, May 21, 2022 in St. Peters Episcopal Church 1 Hartford Road, Medford, NJ 08055. Inurnment will follow in the Church. Funeral arrangements under the direction of the Bradley & Stow Funeral Home 127 Medford-Mt. Holly Road, Medford, NJ 08055.
