William Plantier Obituary

William F. X. Plantier (Bill), age71, passed on September 21, 2021 following a tragic accident.

William was born in Trenton, NJ, eldest son of the late Elaine and Silver Star WW2 Veteran William Plantier. On June 9, 1973, William married Patricia Hogan, the mother of his two loving sons, Ryan and Matthew. In addition to his wife and children, Bill leaves behind his loving daughter-in-law Kaitlyn and adoring grandchildren Julie, Leah, and Ryan; his dear brothers John (Patti), and Thomas, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bill was an avid camper, fisherman, and kayaker. He enjoyed his weekends with his family. In his younger days, there wasn’t a weekend in the summer where he wasn’t throwing his boys around in the pool or taking everyone out on his 24’ Chris-Craft, which he loved like a member of the family. While retired he loved his summers at his North Wildwood home where he and Patricia were always out walking their dog Finn, riding bikes, going out to eat, or hanging poolside at the Seaport Pier with friends.

Bill took a great amount of pride in his career. He began as a Social Worker in 1973 at the Rahway State Prison. After running the Outpatient Department at Menlo Park Diagnostic, he left to take a position at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center, when it opened in 1976. He rose through the ranks there, making Assistant Superintendent in 1983 and Administrator in 1990. In 2000, he was appointed Director of Operations for the N.J. Department of Corrections. In 2007 he retired from the NJ Department of Corrections, he went on to the East Regional Director for Community Education Centers. In 2011 he became Director of Corrections for Bucks County Pennsylvania, where he oversaw three Correctional Facilities. He retired from this position in 2017 although continued to be a consultant in correctional management.
