Dorothy B (Bassler) Spellman

Dorothy Spellman (nee Bassler, born December 21, 1930 –Chicago, IL) passed peacefully at Samaritan Hospice in Mount Holly, NJ on November 29, 2016 at the age of 85.   Dottie is survived by her husband of 63 years, Lawrence Sr., sons Lawrence Spellman, Jr. of Medford, NJ (wife Sarah), Steven Spellman of Brazil/Haiti (wife Liz), and daughters Cindy Grover of Modesto, CA (husband Lee), Susan Osterhout of Marlton, NJ (husband Brian).  She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  Dottie began her adult life as a stewardess for United Airlines back in the days of DC-3 planes.  Most of her passengers were first time fliers, and needed assurance that this was a safe way to travel.   Dottie provided that comfort and assurance with every flight.  Dottie had been a working volunteer for various Medford groups over the years.  She had been a part of the local and state Republican Party for many years.  She was also a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, and lived to finally see her Cubs win the World Series!  The family will have a private funeral service.  However, a public reception to celebrate Dottie’s life will be held on December 17, 2016 at:  16 Knotty Oak Dr. Medford, NJ, from 2:00pm-4:00pm.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Bradley & Stow Funeral Home of Medford, NJ.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be made in her name to: The Burlington County Cerebral Palsy Center, 40 Cedar Street, Mount Holly, NJ  08060 or to the Burlington County Animal Shelter, 35 Academy Drive, Westampton, NJ  08060.  (www.BradleyStow.com )
